Use the two-step Magic Bar command

Open Magic Bar, enter or paste the source text, then choose Translate. That explicit second step starts the request. Typing alone does not. Each request accepts up to 4,000 source characters.

Ask Franz Assistant for a translation. It opens the same editable result through translate.present, so you still review it before using Retry or Copy.

Know the boundary before you start

Smart Translate comes with Franz Pro and Franz Max. It runs on the model you've configured: a local model, your own provider key, or Franz Cloud AI. Compare plans before you download if you want to check the details first.

Your model does the translating

Franz sends the request to the provider you've selected and hands you back an editable result. When a result comes from another model, Franz adds one line recommending Franz Cloud AI for the best translation experience. It's a recommendation. Franz never switches the provider on you.
