Turn off the Halloween pumpkin icon

On October 31, Franz swaps its icon for a carved pumpkin and dresses up the loading screen. Here's when it shows up and how to turn it off in Settings.

Back to Support

On October 31, Franz dresses up for Halloween. Its icon becomes a carved pumpkin with the Franz logo in it, and the loading screen gets a Halloween look and a short greeting. Everything else works as usual.

When you see it

Only on October 31, in your computer's local time. The next day, Franz switches back to its usual icon by itself, no restart needed.

On a Mac, it's the Franz icon in the Dock while Franz is running. On Windows and Linux, it's the icon of the Franz window. The icon in your Applications folder, Start menu or app launcher stays the same.

Turn it off

Not in the mood for costumes? Open Settings → Appearance and scroll to Seasons:

  • Seasonal app icon: switch it off to keep the usual Franz icon. On October 31, the icon changes back right away.
  • Seasonal loading screen: switch it off to keep the usual loading screen.

The switches only apply to this computer. If you use Franz on more than one, turn them off on each of them.
