Franz 5 is still distributed and still gets service recipe updates. Franz 6 never installs itself through the Franz 5 updater. Moving is your choice, and some people have moved back, which is fine too.
Your account carries over
Sign in to Franz 6 with the account you already have. Nothing gets deleted when you move. Your data and settings stay, and if you're on a paid plan, it's honored in Franz 6 too.
The free plan changed
Franz 6 uses the same free plan limits for everyone. If your account was grandfathered into older free plan terms, that exception doesn't carry forward. The plans below show exactly what you get.

No. Franz 5 is still distributed and still works. Service recipe updates keep flowing to it too. The trade-off is the browser engine: it's aging, and some services may eventually stop loading there.
No. Franz 6 never installs through the Franz 5 auto-updater. Moving is a choice you make by downloading it yourself.
It's honored. Sign in to Franz 6 with the same account and your existing plan applies there too. Only the old grandfathered free plan exception ends with Franz 6.

Yes. One thing to know: the first time you sign in to Franz 6, your stored password is upgraded to a newer format that Franz 5 doesn't recognise. Reset your password once at v5.meetfranz.com/retrieve-password and you can sign back in. We recommend picking one version and staying with it.
