How the 14-day Max trial works, what it includes, what you keep when it ends, where to find the renewal date, and how to cancel before billing starts.

Franz has two kinds of trial. Most people get the Max trial: it starts on its own when you set up Franz outside the Mac App Store, runs for 14 days and needs no card. Some paid plans started from the website begin with a trial tied to a subscription, which renews when it ends. The profile billing page shows which one you're on, the active plan and the renewal date, if there is one.
Your Max trial
For 14 days, Franz runs as Max: unlimited services and workspaces, plain and smart snippets, Smart Translate, and Franz Cloud AI with 1M Cloud tokens during the trial. That's one allowance for the whole trial, it doesn't reset monthly. Hosted web research isn't part of the trial. Nothing gets charged, as there's no card on file.
Where to check your trial
Open your Franz profile and go to the billing section. If you started a trial from the website, use the same Franz account in the desktop app so the entitlement can sync.
What happens when the Max trial ends
Franz goes back to what Starter, the free plan, includes: up to 3 services, 1 workspace and Basic AI on your device. You keep your account, your local data and your saved snippets, and they stay readable. Nothing gets deleted.
Pro brings plain snippets back into use, keeps your smart templates in the library with a clear upgrade path, and runs Smart Translate on the model you configure. Max restores smart snippets and Franz Cloud AI. Subscribe later, and your access comes back.
Trials tied to a subscription
If billing details are already attached to the subscription, the plan renews automatically when the trial ends, on the date the billing section shows.
If the subscription still needs billing details, Franz may ask you to finish checkout before paid access can continue. Follow the billing page prompts instead of starting a second subscription with another account.
Cancel before renewal
You can cancel before the renewal date from the profile billing page. Open the billing management flow, review the subscription shown there and confirm. Afterwards the billing page shows the updated state and when paid access is expected to end.
For team subscriptions, the owner should make billing changes and review seats from team management.
