Where Franz stores your data
Learn which Franz data stays on your device, which account settings sync, and why third-party service messages remain under each service's control.
Back to SupportFranz separates app data, account data, and service data. That matters when you want to understand what is stored by Franz and what continues to live with the services you connect. The Privacy Statement covers Franz's website and product data practices.
Most day-to-day app state is local to the computer where Franz runs. This includes the desktop app configuration, cached service views, workspace layout, notification choices, and other settings the app needs to start quickly. Clearing cache or removing local app data can reset parts of that state without deleting your account.
Your Franz account stores the information needed to sync your Franz setup between devices, such as your account identity, subscription state, workspaces, and the services you added to Franz. You can manage account-level details from your profile account page. This account sync does not make Franz the owner of the conversations inside Slack, WhatsApp, Gmail, Discord, or another service.
Connected services keep their own sessions and data. When a service shows messages inside Franz, the content is still served by that provider through its web app or integration flow. Franz can remember that you added the service and keep the session container available, but the provider controls the account, message history, and service-side retention.
If you remove a service from Franz, you remove it from your Franz workspace. To delete messages, files, or profile information inside that service, use that service's own privacy or account settings.
