Workspaces

Delete or restore a workspace

Delete a Franz workspace carefully, understand what happens to its visible service tabs, and recover by reassigning services when needed later.

Back to Support

Delete a workspace only when you no longer need that context. A workspace controls which service tabs are visible together; it is not the same thing as deleting every account you use inside Franz.

Open Settings -> Workspaces, select the workspace, and review the services listed on the page before using the delete action. If you still need a service, add its tab to another workspace first or edit the service from Settings -> Services and enable another workspace there. This prevents a useful service from disappearing from your day-to-day view.

Franz does not allow deleting the last remaining workspace. At least one workspace must stay in place so the app always has somewhere to show service tabs. If you delete the currently active workspace, Franz switches to another remaining workspace.

There is no separate workspace restore button. To recover from an accidental deletion, create a new workspace and add the services or tabs that should belong to it. Services that were not deleted can be reassigned from their settings. If you deleted a service as well, add that service again and sign in through the provider when prompted.

Before deleting a workspace that was used for a client or project, consider renaming or reordering it first. That keeps the setup available while you confirm that nothing important still depends on it.
