Fix Gmail login and Google permissions

Resolve Gmail login and Google permission prompts in Franz by allowing OAuth popups, browser cookies, required scopes, and organization admin access.

Back to Support

Gmail sign-in uses Google's OAuth flow. If the login window does not appear, reload the Gmail service and make sure Franz is allowed to open the sign-in popup. Google may also ask you to confirm the account in an external browser before returning to the Gmail session in Franz.

Cookies must be available for the Google session. If you recently cleared service data, blocked third-party cookies, or signed out of Google in the same service view, Gmail may ask you to sign in again. Complete the Google prompt and wait for Gmail to finish loading before reloading the service.

During login, Google can show permission screens for Gmail access. Approve the permissions required to load Gmail in the desktop session. Franz cannot bypass Google's permission checks, and declining required access leaves the service at the login or consent screen.

For school or company Google accounts, an administrator may restrict desktop or embedded browser sign-ins. If the account is managed and the consent screen says the app is blocked, the workspace administrator needs to allow the sign-in method for that Google organization.
