Update Franz

Franz checks for updates automatically, but the final install step may wait until you restart the app. If the update prompt does not appear or a service keeps behaving like an older version, you can update manually without removing your app data.

Update safely

1. Quit and reopen Franz first. Many updates finish after the app restarts.
2. If Franz shows an update available message, let the download finish, then restart when prompted.
3. When no prompt appears, download the current Franz installer from the Franz website.
4. Install the new version over the existing app. On macOS, replace Franz in Applications. On Windows, run the installer and keep the default destination.
5. Open Franz again and wait for your services to load. Your account, workspaces, and services should remain in place because the application update does not wipe the Franz data folder.

Do not delete your Franz data folder as part of a normal update. That folder contains local app state and service sessions. Only use data removal when a troubleshooting article specifically asks for it and you understand that services may need to be added or signed in again.
